Ardoyne House, Herbert Park, Dublin 4
MDP were engaged to supply full architectural services on this project to include refurbishment works and upgrading works to make the building comply with current with building regulations. Ardoyne House is located in the north western section of Herbert Park to the south of Clyde Road and to the north of Herbert Park, and to our understanding was constructed in the late 1960’s. Ardoyne House comprises of a block of 46 apartments arranged over 12 floors. There
are generally four apartments on each level, except the penthouse level (11th floor) with 2 apartments.
Although not a protected structure Ardoyne House is a fine early example of an apartment block in Dublin City and any and all works will have to proceed with due consideration of the building’s aesthetic. Having regard to the prominent location of Ardoyne House, adjacent to Herbert Park and also to the residential conservation areas to the north and east, it is recommended that sufficient detail is provided to the Planning Authority application, in respect of the materials and finishes to include an architectural statement with commentary on the site’s location in proximity to a Conservation area.
