This project in the heart of Dungarvan involved the sensitive transformation of a protected structure into a modern 16-bedroom hotel. Our design approach prioritised preserving the historic character of the original building while introducing a contemporary extension that supports its new use. The result is a balanced blend of conservation and modern hospitality design.
The existing structure was carefully restored to accommodate the reception area and three suites, with the retained annex functioning as the main stair core. To the rear, a stepped extension rises from two to four storeys, respecting the scale of the protected building while establishing a distinct presence from Scanlon’s Yard. External walkways and a landscaped seating area enhance the hotel’s connection to its surroundings and provide valuable outdoor amenities.
Delivered through close collaboration with the full project and construction team, the hotel achieves a high standard of craftsmanship and interior design. It stands as a strong example of how thoughtful adaptive reuse can revitalise historic buildings, contributing positively to the ongoing regeneration of Dungarvan’s town centre.
